Pottery a Work of Art.
Why are we attracted to different types of Pottery? Why do we enjoy
looking at Pottery? The answer to these questions is for many the
same reason one buy a painting. We can ask ourselves, what types
of finish do we like? Is it a high glaze or flat glaze? What color
clay? What colors appeal to us most in the pottery we have chosen?
Do we like pottery with designs, flowers, strips, etc.? Are we looking
for pottery to add color, warmth or charm to a room? Do we want
the piece we pick to make a statement? Does the piece of pottery
we have chosen say that we are a powerful person
perhaps even
rich? Does the pottery let people know we have an artistic flair
or are we dramatic? Is the piece we are looking for just a work
of art? Is it going to add to our senses and pleasure as we view
it? Is it a conversation piece? Do the pieces excite us or put us
in a relaxed mood? Does our reason for our choosing the piece of
pottery bring up childhood memories or a family member? Is it because
we are naturally a saver and the price is right or we consider it
a bargain. Does it make a statement or fulfill a need? Are we taking
home a piece of memory from a trip? Are we buying the perfect gift?
Was it a gift from a love one and we just couldn't part with it?
Do we want it for its' archeological value? Is it so ugly that it's
cute?
Sometimes we don't even have to have our pottery in the home.
We like it in our gardens, on our porches or hanging from our door
way. We need pots for our favorite plants. We like bringing things
from home to work. Does it calm our nerves and give us piece? Does
it brighten our kitchen or make our shed look quaint? Does it make
our entrance way noticeable? Is our pottery an object, figurine,
pot, or dish? Is it a piece of earth from the Grand Canon?
What ever your reason, we hope it gives you some
pleasure or fulfills your needs!
